Gold has undoubtedly been the most desired element in the history of mankind. Coveted by all social classes from kings to vassals. Alchemy was born as a way to create it and even today conflicts for it continue.
But... What is it that makes it so important, what are its magical properties?

Houses have been expropriated, rivers have been polluted or even entire villages have been wiped off the map.
Is it really worth all this for a simple material? Are the socio-economic benefits more or are we selling the land for simple greed?
In the footsteps of gold is a documentary that aims to answer these and many other questions about this coveted material. We will begin by reviewing the history of gold to get into its chemical properties that make it so special.
Then, we will review the extraction methods used by mankind and that are still used today in the mines that are still open in Asturias.
Finally, we will learn about the projects that are still to come and the conflicts they generate in the neighbors and shopkeepers of the surrounding areas.
