DIY Lamp Shade Makeover

Hi Everyone,
Today is the first of a two-part video. I’m making over a lamp and lamp shade. While the lamp has definitely seen better days, the lamp shade is in really good condition and just needs a face lift.
Since the design inspiration I’m running with for the lamp is black and gold art deco, I thought I better do a luxury lamp shade. I’m covering the shade with black satin. Which is left over from my DIY ball gown that I made (and filmed). If you’d like to check out that video, you can find it here: Making a Ball Gown in Two Days
I attached the satin with hot glue then used additional hot glue to put on all of the gems. The pattern choices are endless, but I decided to go with a heavily gem’ed bottom of the lamp to a sparsely bedazzeled top. The idea was stars in a dark night.
I’m excited for this DIY project and think the finished craft will earn its own special place of glam honor in my home decor collection.
