The Royal Marines Pull Up Test as performed on the Potential Royal Marines Course (PRMC). This is also used in the Royal Marines Fitness Assessment (RMFA) also known as Gym Test 1.

The test is performed to a beep, a pull up pacer test and should be performed on a thick wooden beam rather than a pull up bar.

To pass the Royal Marines Pull Up Test you need to complete 6 pull ups to the bleep. The rules are:

The individual adopts,  on the  command, an  overgrasp, shoulder width  grip,  hanging with the  arms and body straight. On the command “Standby, 3-2-1”, ‘beep’ the arms are bent, body  straight,  until  the chin is over the bar.   On the second  ‘beep’ the  arms and body  are  fully extended until  the body is in the dead  hang  position.

So this will be my second video on this subject - thought I would make this as checking my previous video I did a lot of talking and I think some people wanted to just watch the pull up test - I have checked Youtube analytics!

Anyway - here is the complete pull up test for the Royal Marines as found in the PRMC and also in recruit training, it is performed to a beep to command the upward (concentric) and lowering (eccentric) phase.

I have been getting a lot of questions regarding this test and so I will be doing another video answering some of the questions shortly.

Anyway I hope you like the video, thought it would be fun to challenge myself and think I may start doing this regularly!

Muscle World is a fitness and bodybuilding Youtube challenge channel. I served in the Royal Marines 2005-2009 and that is my source for this military pull up test video.
