The first thing you need to do is come to this fisherman’s village, and you'll see that there’s a merchant here who sells a lot of stuff, including a handgun.
To get here in the early game, there are basically two options: you can fly all the way over here if you have already learned how to do that, or you can die and actually respawn close enough to this area.Then, all you have to do now is follow me all the way there. You can either walk over there or ride your pal. It’s quite easy to get to the fisherman's village since there aren’t pretty much any enemies along the way.
Once you get there, make sure to activate the fast travel point right away; it’s located right at the front of the village. Now, just walk up to the merchant to talk to him, choose the option to buy, then select the makeshift handgun. It costs 16600 pieces of gold, but it’s easy enough to make money in this game. You can also buy ammo here.
