The clash between the people of Judea and the Roman Empire in the Great Revolt can also be seen as a culture war between Rome and Jerusalem. The two sides expressed their worldviews and the values for which they were fighting on silver and bronze coins that went into the pockets of every citizen. On their coins, the Romans emphasized the centrality of the Emperor and the military might of the Empire, whereas the Jews extolled the desire for freedom, a spiritual life, and the redemption of Jerusalem.
