A sensory diet is a series of sensory activities with the goal to help with self-regulation, focus, and an overall feeling of success.

Because everyone's sensory system is unique, every sensory diet will be unique.
But there is a simple formula that you can use when creating a sensory diet!

1️⃣ Meet the sensory threshold first. This means: sensory activities that meet the person's unique sensory needs. If your child seeks out heavy work, you'll start their sensory diet with heavy work.
2️⃣ Do some heavy work / proprioception. This is anything that works the muscles and provides input to the joints. This can be animal walks, climbing, or even running and jumping.
3️⃣ Add in other senses: visual, auditory, tactile, etc. Make sure to include something that requires focus and attention and control of the body.

Use these three elements to create a unique sensory diet that helps your child feel cool, calm, and regulated.
Don't forget to create a sensory diet for yourself as well!
