Reviewing Google's Pixel 5, the 2020 flagship smartphone that costs just £599 in the UK yet still boasts 5G support, untouchable camera tech, a gorgeous OLED display and plenty of gaming grunt. I've been testing the Pixel 5 as my full-time phone for a week now and here's my final verdict - spoiler, it's much better (and cheaper) than last year's model. But not quite perfect.

The main problem is that Google has already impressed with its Pixel 4a pair (including the fresh new 5G upgrade), which are priced at £349 and £499. Those phones still serve up a compact design, easy-to-use camera, good battery life and full Android 11 action. By spending more on this flagship, you're only getting a few improvements like water resistance - and a 90Hz screen, which is my main love here.

Of course the Pixel 5 has plenty of strong rivals, including the OnePlus Nord, OnePlus 8T and Xiaomi's new Mi 10T series. Most of which are cheaper, or offer stronger specs including 120Hz or even 144Hz displays, and Snapdragon 865 smarts. Still, I really enjoyed using this Google blower as my full-time phone, and Pixel fans should be more than satisfied with that excellent camera and sleek Android experience.
