Joe Profaci was an Italian-American Mafia boss who was active in the mid-20th century. He was the founder and head of the Colombo crime family, one of the five major organized crime families in New York City. Profaci was involved in various criminal activities, including illegal gambling, extortion, and labor racketeering. He was known for his tight control over his crime family and his wealth, which was estimated to be in the millions of dollars.
