Days prior to traveling to Canada for her film residency with Welcome to the West, Rachel Fannan of the band, Only You cut a version of Beautiful Dreamer in New York City which would be featured in Canon's Inspired Commercial.
The song, which was originally written in 1864 by Stephen Foster, has been popularized throughout history by various greats such as Roy Orbison and Al Jolson. Lyrically tragic, Beautiful Dreamer tributes the singer's one true love who lay in a coma and could not be brought back to life. Before the song became popular, Foster himself had passed having written numerous landmark musical compositions including: Oh! Susanna and My Old Kentucky Home.
Here we see Rachel Fannan accompanied by Kurt Loewen of the Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra. The Canon E0S T4i was supplied by the Camera Store. Welcome to the West used the Canon T4i and Canon 7D in the making of this project.
This session was filmed in Calgary, AB to compliment a single, which was made available on iTunes last week on Black Iris Records. All proceeds benefit selected Hurricane Sandy Relief programs.
