DJ One Five serves up a second EP from the forthcoming Detroit Gets Physical compilation that he has so expertly curated.

DJ One Five grew up in the Motor City, exposed to real house and techno from a young age. A 2008 move to Atlanta, another house hotbed, led to a residency at DJ Pierre’s Wildpitch club and tour dates around the US. DJ One Five has since returned to Detroit and has joined the Afro Acid team with DJ Pierre and become a leader for the next generation with releases on the Jack Trax label and now Get Physical.

'Russell Woods' is an authentic house track with bumping drums designed for maximum impact. The slinky percussion and low-slung bass are topped off with vocal stabs that make for a fulsome and characterful sound. The fantastic 'Love on Dexter Ave' is a more stripped-back and roomy house track. The drums are perfectly tight and taught, with balmy pads and a soulful vocal top line that is warm and heady for intimate dance floors. 'Play On Detroit' flips the vibe again with a jazzy house feel. Broken beats and crisp percussion add up to a sweet and silky groove.

Fellow American, classically trained musician and Underground Resistance live act leader Jon Dixon then remixes 'Love Talk.' The 4EVR 4WRD label founder is a leader in the contemporary Detroit scene and shows that with a hi-tek soul sound that is warm and inviting, with smooth pads and jazz keys peppering his classic Detroit house sounds.

Detroit Gets Physical is due in October and this EP shows why the compilation is so hotly anticipated.
