Supporters of the jailed former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko were out in numbers in Kharkiv on Sunday as she completed one full year in detention.
Opposition leader Arseniy Yatsenuk brought 365 flowers.
"Here are 365 white roses for the 365 days that she's been under arrest," he said outside the hospital where the former premier is being treated for a chronic back ailment.
Human rights activist Alexander Karyaka, however, likened the whole spectacle to a rather distasteful public relations stunt.
"I think this is amoral, simply as human beings, to come and to make PR," he said.
Visiting German doctor Karl Max Einhaeupl, has recently said said there has been some improvement in Tymoshenko's condition but experts believe she needs eight weeks of "stress-free treatment" to stabilise her recovery.
