I edited down the video, the original one was too boring, it is math after all. I left in the formulas which is all you need basically. If you still want to watch the full version here it is: Pool Volume (long version)
Example in Video:
Rectangular Pool:
Width X Length X Average Depth X 7.48
Example:
15 ft x 35 ft = 525 sq ft
525 sq ft X 5.5 ft avg depth = 2,887.50 sq ft
2,887.50 sq ft X 7.48 = 21,598 gallons
Round Pool:
Pi (3.14) X Diameter X Diameter X Average Depth X 7.48
Example:
3.14 X 4 ft X 4 ft (8 ft length split in two) =
50.24 sq ft
50.24 X Avg Depth of 2 ft = 100.48 sq ft
100.48 sq ft X 7.48 = 751.59 gallons
3.14 X radius X radius
X Avg Depth X 7.48
Triangle:
Base X Height Divided by 2 X average Depth
Example:
30 ft by 50 ft divided by 2 + 750 sq ft
750 sq ft X 6 ft Avg Depth = 4,500 sq ft
4,500 sq ft X 7.48 = 33,600 gallons
To get the average depth, take the shallow end and deep end then divide by 2.
Example:
3 ft by 8 ft divided by 2 = 5.5 ft

Here I show you how to calculate the pool surface area, total gallons of water. I use three formulas in this video. It is important to know your pool size since many chemicals that you add are based on total gallons to calculate the amount to add to your pool
