Darcy Ward is a former speedway rider from Australia. For many, he's the best to ever done the sport. His career was cut short due to 2015 crash in polish Ekstraliga match in Zielona Gora.
This documentary is a summary of Ward's astounding career. Even though he was only 23 at the time of the accident, ha had managed to announce himself on the world stage in years prior. In the movie you'll watch his development since his first motorbike, first victories, through the accident, up until what he is up to nowadays.
Besides the interview, recorded in January 2023 in Brisbane Australia, you'll find footage of Ward's most impressive races from around the world including:
Speedway Grand Prix, Elite League (former name of British Premiership), where he raced for Poole Pirates and Swindon Robins and Polish Ekstraliga (KS Toruń and Falubaz Zielona Gora).
For me as a creator, one of the most important aspect of the documentary is the fact that it's just as Darcy's entire career - cheerful while it lasted and sad when it ended. I know speedway fans around the world cherish their memories involving Darcy, you're more than welcome to share one of yours in the comments. I am also aware that it's already been almost a decade since we last saw Darcy in SGP. Therefore, one of the main reasons to create the documentary was introducing Darcy's story to younger generation of fans and to anyone, who's willing to spend over an hour to learn an absolutely unforgettable story of a man who entertained crowds, had talent to race motorbikes, but his lifelong dream of becoming world champion unfortunately never came true.
