Oceanography is the science of oceans, as the name implies.
Oceanography encompasses all studies conducted on or connected to oceans, from history to current climatic variations; chemistry to biological processes to products; origin to destruction; pollution to conservation.
It is a branch of science that examines the physical, ecological, geomorphic, and dynamic properties of oceans.

Reliefs of the Ocean Basis
Water covers around a third of the earth's surface.
Oceans, Inland Seas, Small Enclosed Seas, Bays, and other hydrosphere features are separated into Oceans, Inland Seas, Small Enclosed Seas, Bays, and other hydrosphere features based on their size and location.
Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, and the Arctic Ocean are the world's four primary oceans.
The ocean floor, which is the 'land' beneath the oceans' waves, has complex and varied features similar to those seen on land.
Tectonic, volcanic, erosional, and depositional processes, as well as their interactions, all contribute to the formation of ocean relief.
There are four relief zones on the ocean floor:
Continental Shelf
Continental Slope
Deep-Sea Plain and
Oceanic deep or trench.

Temperature and Density of Ocean Water
Massive meteorology, which deals with the portion of the atmosphere that overspreads the huge water masses, is concerned with the study of ocean temperatures.
One of the most important responsibilities of oceanographers has been to determine the temperature of the sea and to accurately measure it, as this aids in the determination of the motions of enormous amounts of ocean water.
The density of a substance is defined as its mass per unit volume expressed in grams per cubic centimeter.
The term density is commonly used to refer to specific gravity, which is defined as the ratio of density to that of distilled water at a certain temperature and pressure.
At 4 degrees Celsius, pure water has a maximum density of one unit, however, the density of the sea varies depending on the salinity content.
Pure water's density is only determined by temperature and pressure.
Seawater, on the other hand, is affected by temperature, pressure, and salinity.
The effect of salt on density and freezing point is depicted in this diagram.

Salinity
The entire amount of solid material in a kilogram of seawater, expressed in parts per thousand, is referred to as salinity.
The average salinity of saltwater is 3.5 percent, which is measured in parts per thousand.
Winds caused by variations in air pressure cause salinity to fluctuate.
The strong winds that blow throughout the year transport much of the warm and saline water from the western shore of the land in the lower middle latitudes to the eastern shore in the higher latitudes, causing salinity distribution to alter.
The nature of the atmosphere, i.e. the difference between precipitation and evaporation, determines salinity changes.
Movement of Ocean Water
Movement of Ocean Water
The water in the ocean is never still. Diverse forms of ocean water flows exist as a result of different physical qualities such as temperature, salinity, density, and so on. External influences such as the sun, moon, and winds influence the movement of ocean water.
The major movements of ocean waters can be divided into three categories. They are as follows:
Waves
Tides
Ocean Currents
Ocean currents and waves are horizontal motions of ocean waters, whereas the tide is a vertical flow of ocean water.
