On Monday August 6th, 2016, Stockton Firefighters responded to reports of a vehicle fire in the 2400 block of Porter Way. While en route, the call was upgraded to a structure fire.

Firefighters were delayed due to the high call volume (multiple fire engines already assigned to other emergencies). Engines from surrounding firehouses responded and quickly extinguished the fire; minimizing damage to the residences.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find two houses on fire, and called for a second alarm. Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the fire and save as much of these homes as possible. Crews immediately used a 2 1/2 inch hoseline (larger and more difficult to maneuver than other hoselines) to put more water on the fire faster. This hoseline selection produced a volume of water that knocked the majority of the fire down within minutes.

Stockton Firefighters continue to provide service with staffing levels similar to the 1970's. The number of calls have quadrupled since then. In 2016, the 12 firehouses are on pace to exceed 40,000 emergency responses.

Stockton Firefighters are proud to serve and protect the citizens and City of Stockton, California.
