It is 1066 and Edward the Confessor has died, but who is going to become king? Follow the fight for the crown between Harold Godwinson, Harald Hardrada and William of Normandy; take part in a choreographed Battle of Hastings; and watch the stitchers at work on the Bayeux Tapestry in this fabulous 1066 class assembly. This fabulously fun, exciting and inspiring Class Assembly is full of facts to help embed learning about the fascinating topic of 1066. The script takes the class through the series of events leading to the battle of 1066, as each of the contenders for the throne is introduced. Follow the story as troops are mobilised across the country and battle commences. Then, as the battle concludes and William is crowned the King of England, learn about the significance of the Bayeux Tapestry. To bring this topic to life in a way that the whole class will remember, re-enact a battle using the choreography suggestions provided, and for a bit of added fun rap along to the 1066 Rap, a fabulous way for the class to retain the important facts of this key event or for a class assembly.
