Christina Applegate on Surviving Cancer

When Christina Applegate was three months old, she made her acting debut in her mother’s arms on the daytime soap opera “Days of our Lives.” After performing in commercials for K Mart and appearing in several movies and TV shows, she received her breakthrough role as teen air head Kelly Bundy on Fox’s popular sitcom “Married… With Children” at age fifteen. After an impressive 11 seasons, the show ended in 1997. In the summer of 2008, Applegate was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. Due to early detection through an MRI, the cancer was not life threatening; however, Applegate elected to have a double mastectomy due to her family history of breast cancer. Applegate started a program to help women at high risk for breast cancer to meet the costs of an MRI, which is not always covered by insurance.
