The previous videos have featured alternate language versions of German songs so the following 2 videos will feature French songs that crossed over into Germany.

First up is Charles Trenet's legendary "Boum" which he recorded in 1938. He even recorded an English version and "Boum" is still widely known today....

The version presented in this video was recorded by the Heinz Huppertz orchestra for Odeon in 1939.
Huppertz (1902-72) studied the violin and piano and became the house band of the Rio Rita Bar in Berlin in 1932....

The video features images and documents concerning Charles Trenet as well as images of Berlin from the late 1930s.
