Fructose Metabolism and Breakdown Pathway: Absorption, Fructolysis, Regulation and Health Impacts
Hey everyone! In this lesson you will learn about the fructose metabolism pathway aka fructolysis, including an in-depth overview of the pathway, how fructose is absorbed in the body, where fructose metabolism occurs in the body, what enzymes are involved in fructose metabolism pathway, and how fructose metabolism contributes to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, obesity and diabetes.
How does fructolysis, the metabolism of fructose, differ from glycolysis? Fructolysis utilizes specialized enzymes and undergoes significantly less regulation than glycolysis.
