In September 1822 Champollion deciphered
In September 1822 Champollion deciphered Egyptian hieroglyphics. This would not have been possible without the finding of Rosetta Stone by Bouchard, Thomas Young's advances, Philé's obelisk at Kingston Lacy, and Champollion's knowledge of Coptic and other languages.
