How to Replace Broken Thumbsticks on PS5 Controller (Fix Peeling)

To replace the thumbstick on your PS5 controller, you can follow these steps:

Remove the faceplate by lifting it from the bottom.
Remove the R1 and L1 buttons by using a thin piece of plastic.
Remove the four screws that hold the back cover and then unlatch it from the headphone jack and the sides.
Remove the battery by pulling it gently from the wires.
Remove the middle screw on the black piece and disconnect the ribbon cable for the microphone.

Unplug the four ribbon cables from the board and then unlatch the board from the sides.

Lift the board and remove the old thumbstick and replace it with the new one.

Feed the thumbsticks back through the holes and reconnect the four ribbon cables to the board.
Put the black piece back and screw it down and reconnect the microphone cable.

Put the battery back and align the QR code up.
Put the back cover back and snap it on and then screw the four screws back.

Put the R1 and L1 buttons back and snap them on.
Put the faceplate back and align it with the touchpad and snap it on.
