Paul Chapman of UFO says he found out Bon Scott of AC/DC died on the morning of 19 February 1980

UFO’s legendary lead guitarist Paul Chapman claims that Bon Scott was going to buy heroin for him and their mutual friend, UFO guitar tech, Joe Fury, but never returned. Scott was last seen with heroin dealer Alistair Kinnear at The Music Machine in Camden.

According to Chapman, who died in 2020, he and Fury waited for Scott to arrive at Chapman’s flat in London but when Scott didn’t appear, Fury left around dawn on the 19th. An hour or so later, Fury called Chapman to say Scott was dead. Chapman then gave Fury a number for UFO bass guitarist Pete Way, who spoke to AC/DC. According to the official story, Scott's body was only discovered outside Kinnear's flat in East Dulwich on the evening of the 19th.
