ASP PRESENTS:
Pt. 2  of the Polish Small Arms of the Second Republic from 1919-1939.  This is Stan's story of his Polish WZ98a Mauser rifle.

One of Wilson's Fourteen Points, was the establishment of an independent Poland in areas once controlled by Germany, Austria, and Russia.  Faced by enemies along all its borders, the reestablished country known as the Polish Second Republic, needed a strong military.  This in turn required sufficient arms to replace the hodge podge collection of WWI cast offs that they inherited.  Starting with the machinery of the former German Imperial arsenal at Danzig, Poland developed an arms industry to first supply its own needs and the ability to sell to others.  The result is a varied accumulation of small arms that can excite gun collectors, even if they are not of Polish background.
