Many of us have been collecting our friends and family contact information in our Gmail or Google accounts for years and now we would like to have all that same contact information available in our iPhone or or iOS devices as well. Today we will learn to set up an account called a CardDAV account that will allow us to do that.
Step # 1 -- Tap on Settings - Mail, Contacts, Calendars
First you will need to tap on your settings app and scroll down to find the button for Mail, Contacts, and Calendars.
Step # 2 -- Add a New Account
In you Mail, Contacts, Calendars settings you will need to add a new account. Tap "Add Account..." and then tap "Other".
Step # 3 -- Add CardDAV Account
From the "Other" menu you will choose to add a "CardDAV" account.
Step # 4 -- Google Account information
In this step you will need to fill in your Google Account information. For the "Server" field put "google.com," you will also need to fill in the username and password for your pre-existing gmail or Google account. Tap the Next button to proceed.
Step # 5 -- Open Contacts App
Once your Google account information has been verified the last step that you will need to do is to go back to your home screen and tap to open up your Contacts app. When you open the Contacts app the first time after creating the CardDAV account it will take a few seconds to import all your contacts from the Gmail or Google account.
