Lumley Castle is a 14th-century
Lumley Castle is a 14th-century Norman quadrangular castle at Chester-le-Street in the North of England, near the city of Durham and a property of the Earl of Scarbrough. It is located just in the heart of the Land of the Prince Bishops, and is named after its original creator, Sir Ralph Lumley. The latter converted his family manor house into a castle in 1389 after returning from wars in Scotland. The castle is said to be haunted. Its major ghost is by all accounts Sir Ralph Lumley's first wife, Lily, who was apparently killed by two priests while she was asleep ...
