Celebrations erupt in Rafah as Hamas accepts ceasefire proposal for Gaza

Crowds could be seen celebrating in Rafah, Gaza on Monday evening after Hamas said it had accepted a ceasefire proposal from mediators.

However, Israel's response so far was that all proposals that would release hostages held in Gaza would be considered, but its military operations in Gaza would continue.

Hamas' announcement came as Israeli forces struck Rafah on Gaza's southern edge and ordered residents out of parts of the city, which has served as the last refuge for more than a million displaced Gazans.
