The author analyses the location and demise of the sacred river Saraswati considered to be the cradle of the Indus-Saraswati civilization and also glorified in the Rig Veda. He attempts a scientific study of drawing geological parallels with other studies highlighting the crucial role played by the river in sustaining the ancient Indic civilizations.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Arjun Singh Kadian is an academic and policy professional based out of offices in Haryana and Delhi. A geologist by training, he graduated from Hansraj College, University of Delhi, and is a gold medallist in his master’s degree. In addition to teaching, he has worked at the chief minister’s office, in Haryana and travelled widely across the region to understand the nuances of the state. He is an alumnus of the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) and ZEIT-Stiftung and a fellow at Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. Arjun is also involved with projects like Indic Academy and Rath Foundation and has initiated the Haryana Thinkers Forum. He also recently authored two books -#LandOfTheGods-The Story of #Haryana and #NeerajChopra-From#Panipat to Podium. Both books tell important stories from the state of Haryana.
