A dilated pore of Winer is a common skin condition that presents as an open comedo mostly on the face. They maybe solitary or multiple, especially on the trunkal areas and can be associated with blackheads, whiteheads, and in the elderlyage warts. Pore of Winer can extractions are just that extracting contents, however the cure is with surgical excision.
Though this video many methods to extract them, the method by Josefa Reina is the best at curing a dilated pore of Winer, as she uses electrolysis to heat the pore, and seal off the walls. All other methods including my laser method mere extracts the contents of the pore or ‘pseudo cysts’, however the pore will remain. I use a laser, most commonly a CO2 laser or erbium laser in drill mode. Why? For smaller PORE OF WINER lesions, lasers provide a very clean neat hole without bleeding with very little damage to the surrounding skin. I then use a cup comedone extractor and put pressure downwards and rock side to side. The laser vaporises the blackhead to allow me to extract the contents of the pore. Note however the laser does not cure the pore of Winer, it merely aids in extraction of its contents.

Dr Gilmore is another expert at removing or extracting Pore of Winer and blackheads. He uses a scalpel to widen the pore and loosen the blackhead, before using a blunt instrument called a curette. For smaller pore of Winer, a simple comedomal extractor can be used.

Dr Sanda Lee has a real understanding of this lesion. As dermatologists, we are taught to recognise a Pore of Winer both clinically and even under a microscope! Dr Lee uses a simple, yet effective method- blade and a comedone extractor. It works well with minimal discomfort to the patient.
