Ron Popeil, master/mogul of "As Seen on TV" gizmos like The Pocket Fisherman, Mr. Microphone, The Auto-Cup, The Record Vacuum, The Inside-the-Egg-Scrambler, The Buttoneer, etc, also found a way to banish the scourge of male pattern baldness from our otherwise-dreary lives. Cast off your toupees, wigs and bottles of Rogaine, skinheads, for the obvious, practical solution to this embarrassing malady is... spray-able fake hair in an aerosol can!
The ringing endorsements are entirely convincing to me, particularly from the Casanova in the semi-fabricated mullet ("The babes are back!"), the guy who's ready to buy a year's supply RIGHT NOW, the giddy albino, and the older black gentleman who will show up his barber to be a fool ("Hey, Emmett, look at me now... huh!"), enough so to make any lingering skepticism I might have about the product's effectiveness fade quickly away.
Yes, I'm totally confident that if some lovely lady ran her fingers through my GLH-enhanced pompadour, she wouldn't find her hand clutching a sticky hank of half-melted, hair-colored Silly String... perish the thought! --And even if she did, that's a small price to pay for... Dignity! ;7)
Yup, this ad is just flat-out hilarious. By the way, both the voiceover making the sales pitch, and the silent, slightly-greying guy who raises his head and sprays the GLH on his scalp, is the man himself, Ron Popeil.
Recorded by accident, sometime in the early-1990s. I was so happy when I found this while going back through some of my old VHS tapes, since I was fairly ruthless about editing out commercials when recording things at that time, to save precious space on the tapes.
