This Memorial Day weekend, 5,000
This Memorial Day weekend, 5,000 active-duty men and women are training aboard the U.S.S. Nimitz, about 100 miles off our San Diego coast. CBS 8’s Brian White joined the crew on the aircraft carrier for two days while at sea.
“I am a United States sailor. I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America,” chanted a group of sailors as they recited the "Sailor’s Creed," a ritual they perform every morning.
The sailors are training with Carrier Strike Group 11 as part of a work-up in preparation for their real deployment in December.
