NVIDIA GeForce GTX 690 + PSU with Only One 8-pin PCIe Work-around

I wanted to upgrade my old PC's GPU with an old-school legend, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 690, still solid for some DOTA. My PSU was however missing the required second 8-pin PCIe power supply connector. So, I bought a bunch of adapters and tried to connect the missing second one through SATA and MOLEX.
