Long and Short Stitch is most often used for shading motifs such as petals and leaves, and can create very realistic effects. Practice is required to perfect a smooth gradation both of stitching and colour.
This stitch is worked in a similar way to satin, but the first row has stitches of unequal length, with subsequent rows interlocking.
Mũi đâm xô được dùng để thêu lấp đầy, khi kết hợp nhiều màu có thể tạo được hiệu ứng 3D sống động, đặc sắc. Mũi Đâm Xô là mũi thêu đòi hỏi kỹ thuật cao, cần phải luyện tập nhiều để có thể xử lý mũi thêu và phối màu đạt yêu cầu kỹ thuật.
Mũi Đâm Xô được thực hiện gần giống cách thức thêu Mũi Bó Bạt, nhưng Mũi Đâm Xô gồm những hàng với các mũi thêu dài ngắn khác nhau đan xen và xếp chồng vào nhau.
