INSANE PRICE OF GROCERIES IN ARGENTINA IS SHOCKING! (#031)

Welcome, bienvinedo amigos! Sharing life in Buenos Aires let's go grocery shopping in Argentina for the first time! Then I show you a few days of what life in Buenos Aires, Argentina is like. This was my third week in Argentina, it's currently Winter in Buenos Aires which is probably why I made a shocking discovery this week...
The price of groceries depends entirely on what currency you're paying with. Pay with United States Dollars or with European Euros and the price of groceries is insanely cheap because the price is cut in half, but pay with Argentinian Pesos, the local currency of the country and the price of groceries is insanely overpriced! This is because inflation in Argentina has resulted in there currently being two exchange rates for Argentinian Pesos: the blue rate and the red rate.
The blue rate literally doubles the value of your currency as a foreigner while reducing the value of your currency as a local which makes life hard for the hardworking people of this country who earn pesos instead of USD.
There is currently a push to move the official currency of Argentina from Argentinian Pesos to United States Dollars so I'll keep you guys updated on that.
- Update 11/22/23 Javier Milei the candidate pushing to make USD the official currency of Argentina has won Argentina's presidential election so we'll see what happens here in the next couple years.
