Different Temperature Scales
It consists of a very thin capillary tube of uniform area of cross section. On the one end of the capillary tube, there is a glass bulb and the other end is sealed. The thick glass stem protects the capillary tube. The capillary tube is filled with the dry and pure mercury. There are two marked points on the thermometer and the distance between these two points is calibrated uniformly. The point that indicates the minimum temperature is called the lower standard point. The point that indicates the maximum temperature is called the upper standard point. There are different types of the thermometric scales, which are used in temperature measurement devices, to measure the temperature of different substances.
