The Ultrasonic Sound Field is usually quite directional which limits the detectability. To conduct a proper ultrasonic inspection or examination it is key to have a good understanding of the ultrasonic field. This video details the basics, including a discussion of the effect of the bandwidth on the sound field (which unfortunately is neglected in the bulk of the existing literature and training material).
