Greppolischieto, piccolo castello che si erge ai confini meridionali del comune di Piegaro (657 metri) e ristrutturato di recente da Anna Fendi, nota stilista romana. È attualmente adibito a residenza privata e vi risiedono stabilmente solo tre famiglie. Non si conoscono le origini ma il primo insediamento si potrebbe fare risalire agli scampati alla distruzione della vicina città di Fallera, antichissimo tipo di costruzione collettiva di epoca preistorica o protostorica. Greppolischieto fra l'XI° ed il XII° secolo fu aspramente conteso tra Orvieto e Marsciano ma finì poi sotto l'orbita perugina. Nel censimento del 1282 il sito è classificato come villa con 24 fuochi (famiglie). Vengono costruite le mura che sono autorizzate dai magistrati perugini nell'intento di rafforzare gli estremi limiti del contado.
Greppolischieto diviene così un castello nei documenti e negli atti pubblici successivi al 1380. Nel 1392, durante il periodo più critico della lotta fra Beccherini (nobili) e Raspanti (popolari), terminata con la vittoria di questi ultimi e l'ascesa al potere di Biordo Michelotti, Greppolischieto fu occupata dai fuoriusciti, ma poi riconquistata dalla città. Nel 1399 il Consiglio generale di Perugia stanziò 30 fiorini per riparare le mura del castello. Nel 1410 il Comune di Perugia emise una nuova tassa per fare fronte alle ingenti spese provocate dalle continue guerre, per il rafforzamento dei vari castelli. Al pagamento della tassa furono sottoposti tutti gli abitanti della città e del contado in "ragione delle loro possibilità e del numero delle bocche"(442 con Gaiche). Small castle which stands on the southern borders of the town of Piegaro (657 meters) and recently restored by Anna Fendi, famous fashion designer in Rome. Is currently a private residence and only three families living there permanently. Do not know the origins but the first settlement could be done to trace escaped the destruction of the nearby city of Faller, an ancient type of building and collecting prehistoric or protohistoric. Greppolischieto between the XI and XII ° century was bitterly contested between Orvieto and Marsciano but ended up in the orbit Perugia.
