On January 2, 2023 a mob wielding batons descended on a Catholic church in the Narayanpur region of central India. The attack was the latest incident in a wave of anti-Christian violence that plagued the region through late 2022. Discrimination and violence toward India's religious minorities have been on the rise, our Observer told us, since the right-wing Hindu nationalist party BJP took power in 2014.
