Wild Camping in Freezing Conditions -5º Deep in the Lowther Hills Exploring Wanlockhead lead Mines
This weeks Wild Camp is deep in the Lowther Hills , I walked into another wee location by following the river past the two waterfalls i nornally camp at , i continued further up until I discovered a hidden lochan way above the Mennock pass
After driving over the Lowther Hills to the highest inhabited village in Scotland at an altitude of 1531ft This part of the lowther hills is know as "God's Treasure House" It is home to a vast amount of minerals and ores , significantly,deposits of lead, zinc,copper,silver and Gold .
Wanlockhead VISION OF THE PAST - Working with the past Here in the present To preserve the Future .
This is a vast area for walking exploring with so many places to wild camp , the Lead mines is a fantastic place to visit
Today i followed the "Visions of the past Trail" wich takes you through the old mining village and explains all the steps of how mining life was way back then .
