Featured is the chess game between Vasyl Ivanchuk and Evgeny Alekseev from the 2009 FIDE Jermuk Grand Prix. With the extra tempo in a Reverse Benoni, Ivanchuk is allowed to play more freely on both wings without encountering any pressure against his base point (d-pawn). Ivanchuk's play on the kingside reminded me of an instructive and forceful pawn sequence played by Mikhail Tal in his memorable game against his trainer Alexander Koblents from 1957. #VasylIvanchuk #BenoniDefense Image of Vasyl Ivanchuk by Lennart Ootes lennartootes.com ★ LICHESS.ORG lichess.org/@/Chess-Network ★ CHESS.COM www.chess.com/member/chessnetwork?ref_id=1552369 (affiliate link) ★ TWITCH twitch.tv/ChessNetwork ★ TWITTER twitter.com/ChessNetwork ★ FACEBOOK facebook.com/ChessNetwork ★ PATREON www.patreon.com/ChessNetwork ★ DONATE www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted… PGN 1. c4 Nf6 2.
