The poetry of airports in Persian

I recently traveled with my hamsafar, little Effie, and this idea came into my head- so many of the common Persian vocabulary words we have for travel have such poetic roots- they’re a combination of simple words together that have such a beautiful meaning. See the words in this video for details.

forood (landing) + gāh (place) = foroodgāh (airport)
havā (air) + paymā (traverser) = havāpaymā (airplane)
mehmān (guest) + dār (haver) = mehmāndār (flight attendant)
ham (same) + safar (journey) = hamsafar (travel mate/soulmate)
bār (weight, baggage) = luggage
