How is an electrical impulse from the nervous system converted into force production in the muscle cell? I explain the role of the motor unit, the importance of Calcium (Ca2+) ions, and the role of actin and myosin filaments in the cross bridge cycle. Then I outline the different impacts on contractile force production from different frequency of electrical stimulus or action potentials. These can produce single twitches, wave summation, treppe (unfused tetanus) and fused tetanus. [00:00] Start [00:15] What is a Motor Unit?
