Benchmarking the AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB graphics card against 12 popular and recent games on an average gaming PC, and comparing results to the RX 6500 XT.

Sometimes sequels are just the same as the last one, but on a smaller budget. That’s definitely the case with AMD’s sub-£200 graphics cards of late, with the RX 6500 XT undercutting the RX 5500 XT in almost every way. The previous gen card has more display outputs, a hardware encoder for video capture, better bandwidth, and (optionally) more VRAM. Does that mean it’s better than the sequel in every regard?
