Here is how to descale
Here is how to descale your Keurig Coffee Maker with Vinegar instead of the expensive Keurig Descaling Solution.
NOTE: Make sure you empty the reservoir and refill with fresh water when the "Add Water" light turns on at the end of Step #2 below.
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Brewer
- Remove any K Cups from the unit
- Pour entire bottle of vinegar (32 oz) or Keurig Solution into the empty reservoir.
- Do not dilute the vinegar
- If you use the Keurig Solution, you need to top it off to the top
- Place a 10 ounce coffee cup under the dispenser
Step 2: DESCALE
- Leave plugged in
- Turn the Power off
- Press the 10 and 6 Oz buttons at the same time; hold about 3 seconds until the 8 Oz button light flashes
- Press the 8 Oz button to make a cup of "hot vinegar"
- When finished, pour into the sink
- Repeat a new cup by pressing the 8 Oz button again
- Continue (probably 3 cups). If the Add Water light turns on, then add more water.
Step 3: FRESH WATER RINSE
- Empty the reservoir into the sink to get rid of any left over vinegar or solution
- Fill the reservoir with fresh water
- When flashing, press the 8 oz button to make a cup of hot water
- Repeat
- When the Descale button turns off, the process is done.
Step 4: BREW A CUP OF COFFEE
- Turn on the Power button
- Make your fresh cup
