Let's Play Final Fantasy XII #123 - Yiazmat Preparations

In this episode, I begin my thorough preparations for fighting Yiazmat.

As a fair warning, I am far from an expert on defeating Yiazmat as quickly as possible.  My method for defeating him is based on the One Hour Method.  There are certainly more obsessive people out there who can indeed kill Yiazmat in under an hour.  I cannot.  I'm simply going to fight the battle to show you the best that I can do.

I made a mistake about the Dark Matter.  It will deal damage equal to the sum of your Knot of Rust damage DIVIDED BY 3!  So it will take a little longer to get your Dark Matter damage up to the maximum of 60000.

Here's a link to the video on using the Cure list for random number generator manipulation.  It is precisely the method that I used to spawn the Lv.99 Red Chocobo.  This episode is NOT a tutorial on how to manipulate the random number generator, so please don't ask me questions on how to do it, or why it doesn't work for you.  I'm simply demonstrating the method, so you know how I got the rare items.

I want to elaborate on advancing the pointer in the random number generator.  Casting Cure will advance the pointer one spot.  Attacking yourself advances it 10 spots.  I prefer to equip a shield with no weapon, so that I don't damage myself with the Brawler license.

If you can't or don't want to manipulate the random number generator to get the second Gemsteel for the second Masamune, you can use this document to create it with the bazaar package.  Similarly, if you can't or don't want to get the Brave Suit, you can set up a Self: Bravery gambit to do the same thing.  It will simply make the battle take longer.

This is the document where I learned about the Jelly auto-leveling method.  There is also another method you can use with the Negalmuur rare game, with another document on GameFAQs.  However, since the rare game takes 30 minutes to spawn, I prefer to use the Jelly method.

One last thing I forgot to mention.  It would be a very good idea to bring a Shell Shield with you to fight Yiazmat.  You should have gotten one from the Wyvern Lord hunt.  If you don't have it still, you can get it from a few chests in the game, though it is pretty rare, so you should use random number generator manipulation to acquire it.  If not, it's not critical.  It helps make fighting Yiazmat a little faster.
