Margarita Barrientos is the founder of the community soup kitchen Los Piletones, to which 1500 people arrive to everyday. Orphan from mother and abandoned by her father, she arrived in Buenos Aires seeking a better future for her homeland and her siblings. She was 12 years old and had managed to finish 3rd grade, but poverty did not frighten her. Afterwards, she met Isidro, her husband and life partner, whom with she had 10 children. When they managed to feed all of them, they decided to share what little they had with their neighbors.
