You’re going to see this crease dent taken out of this door with paintless dent removal. Now this was shot as a time lapse video so that the total repair can be seen in less than 2 minutes, but the actual time to repair a dent like this can take 1-2 hours. Now you wouldn’t want to sit and watch a video that long. Watching the paintless dent repair process can almost be like watching paint dry.
In order to preserve the original factory paint when removing a crease dent, paint-less dent repair is used by slowly making many small pushes with a PDR tool. This allows the metal to move back into place, restoring the original shape of the car door.
For this repair, I was able to use a paintless dent repair tool that fits down through the window opening. I then pushed out the crease starting at one side and moving across and through the middle of the dent. Once the creased metal is all raised, I then need to use a special knock down tool and hammers to bring down any areas that were raised up from pushing the dent or that were caused by the metal movement.

Paintless dent repair can take out a crease, but it takes I highly skilled PDR tech to do it properly without causing more damage and to give an excellent repair. Someone that is inexperienced at removing a crease in a car door will not be able to get all the crease out, leaving a repair that looks worse. Once this is done, PDR may not be possible to restore the damage back and the vehicle may now need to be repaired and painted at a body shop.
