Zhenguo Temple(平遙鎮國寺)
Zhenguo' Temple, formerly known as Jingcheng Temple, is located inHaodong Village, 12 kilometers northeast of the Pingyao Ancient City. Built-in the seventh year of the Tianhui Period in the Northern Han Dynasty (963A.D.), the Five Dynasties Period, it is an important part of the Pingyao Ancient City. The repair work in the past dynasties did not change the original state of the Wanfo Hall built in the Five Dynasties Period. The FiveDynasties Period was short-lived, hence only a few cultural relics were left The colored sculptures in the temple are particularly rare. The Wanfo Hall and the colored sculptures in the hall provide extremely valuable physical evidence for studying the history of Chinese architecture and art development.
Shuanglin Templ(平遙雙林寺)
Shuanglin TempleLocated in the Qiaotou Village, Shuanglin Temple is 6 kilometers southwest of the Pingyao Ancient City. "When Emperor Wen of Han was crown prince. he established the capital in Zhongdu (the original name of Pingyao), so the temple was formerly called "Zhongdu Temple", and was renamed "Shuanglin Temple" during the Northern Song Dynasty. It is an important part of the Pingyao Ancient City. As a sinicized Buddhist temple, ShuanglinTemple integrates different schools of Buddhism. The faces and costumes of colored sculptures are featured with Chinese characteristics. The /ocust8trees planted in the Tang Dynasty, the stone tablets in the Song Dynasty, and the bells made in the Ming Dynasty in the temple are rare treasures; the 2052 colored sculptures have different shapes and are full of romantic charm.0号The ancient murals are colorful and graceful.
