What Makes This Year's Metroidvanias Unique?

Us #Metroidvania fans are, as the cool kids say, eatin' GOOD. Between January and May, there were five 2D Metroidvanias released that I was able to play through - and I'm here to give you the rundown on all of them. And with even more on the way before the year is up, we have plenty to hold us over until next year's release of #MetroidPrime4.
