Hi there!
I'm so glad you found our happy, little corner of the internet! I had so much fun making this blanket. The yarn color (Cabbage Rose) is so dreamy and perfect. It's such a lovely pink, but is also so understated that it's almost a neutral. The double rib is such a simple pattern, but the giant yarn makes it look so luscious and gorgeous! This pattern is the perfect complement to so many styles of decor. Bonus, as with all giant yarn projects, it works up in a flash! I hope you enjoy this fun video as I show you step by step how to knit a double rib blanket with giant yarn!

If you make one of these blankets and you're on Instagram, I'd love it if you tagged me in your photo so I can see!

Happy Knitting,
Anja

In this video, I used 6 pounds of giant yarn in the color Cabbage Rose. Find my favorite giant yarn here:

Pattern:
(Important note: project is worked back and forth across the FRONT only -instead of flipping back and forth to work front side and back side like traditional knitting. You're of course welcome to make yours however is most comfortable for you! Just remember to adjust the pattern accordingly!:) )
Cast on 14 stitches.
Row 1: (working right to left across front of work)
(Knit 2, Purl 2) repeat to end of row.
Row 2: (working left to right across front of work)
(Knit 2, Purl 2) repeat to end of row.
Repeat these two rows until you only have enough yarn to knit about 1 1/2 more rows (For me, that was about 17 feet of yarn). (You'll need this extra yarn since you'll knit the final, cast off row with looser stitches so it will lie nicely.)
(Knit 2, Purl 2-making sure these stitches are looser than you have been knitting) repeat to end of row.
Now go back to the opposite end of this final row-the end you started knitting this row on. Grab the last stitch and pop it over the stitch directly next to it. Now take that stitch and pop it over the stitch directly next to it. Continue this all the way across the row.
Now thread the rest of the yarn through the final stitch and snug it down until it looks tidy.
Trim the remaining yarn tail to about 10 inches (if you're felting it into place-otherwise you can leave it longer.) and weave that end back and forth in a few stitches on the end or on the side of the work. You can just weave in the end and leave it if you feel like it's secure enough. I like to grab my felting kit and felt it into place so it's nice and extra secure. Then repeat the weaving in the end process with the tail from the cast-on side of the work.
And tadaaaa! You're done! Great job!

And in case you need some details on how to felt in the ends, here's a link to a video where I go over it in depth:
