PROCEDURE OF THE TEST:-
1.Take the twenty No. (20) of test specimens (bricks).
2.Lay the twenty No. of brick contact with each other in longitudinal direction to   measure the length of the test piece.
3.Lay the twenty No. of brick in width wise direction and measure the width.
4.Lay the twenty No. of brick in height wise direction and measure the thickness.
Calculate the individual and average of the measures.
Report the result i.e. height, width & thickness of 20 bricks in (mm).

Tolerances for bricks dimension per 20 bricks

For modular size brick

Length 3720 to 3880 mm (3800+/- 80 mm)
Width 1760 to1840 mm (1800+/-40 mm)
Height 760 to 1840 mm (1800+/-40 mm ) (for 90mm height)
Height 760 to 840 mm (800+/-40 mm ( for 70 mm height )
Tolerances for modular size brick
For non-modular size bricks

Length 520 to 4680 mm (4600+/- 80 mm)
Width 2240 to 2160mm (2200+/- 40 mm)
Height 1440 to 1360 mm (1400+/-40 mm) (For 70 mm high bricks)
Height 640 to 560 mm (600+/-40 mm) (For 30 mm high bricks)

The tolerances (Section ) on the sizes of bricks are fixed by giving maximum and minimum dimensions, not on individual bricks but on batches of 20 bricks chosen at random.

It follows from this method of measurement that batches are likely to contain, bricks outside the prescribed limit of tolerance. Such lots should be rejected to avoid complaints about the variation of perpends.

About fifty pieces of bricks are taken at random from different parts of the stack to perform various tests. For the purpose of sampling, a lot should contain maximum of 50,000 bricks. The number of bricks selected for forming a sample are as per Table 2.3, (IS: 5454). The scale of sampling for physical characteristics is given in Table 2.4.

brick is a 3 dimensional object. We define a three-dimensional shape as any shape that has three dimensions. Length, width, and height are the thee dimensions. Brick is three-dimensional shape because it have a width, a length, and a height.

2.1 The Indian Standard IS 5454 : 1976 'Method for sampling of clay building bricks (first revision )' is a necessary adjunct to this standard.

Measure the length and width of one brick with a tape measure. Multiply the length and width, such as 4 inches wide by 8 inches long, to get the total square inches. Note: This is for bricks that will install with their broad faces up, as with patio pavers.

Hint: A brick is a 3-dimensional solid cuboid. Hence it has 6 rectangles joined together. The face of an object is a flat surface which makes up the object, while an edge is the line on the boundary that joins two vertices together. Now, for a cuboid we have 6 faces which are meeting on 12 lines, so there are 12 edges.

types of Bricks used in Masonry Construction
Sun-Dried or Unburnt Clay Bricks. Sun-dried or unburnt bricks are less durable and these are used for temporary structures.
Burnt Clay Bricks.
Fly Ash Bricks.
Concrete Bricks.
Engineering Bricks.
Sand Lime or Calcium Silicate Bricks.

The building block of GPC is a product code known as a brick. The lowest level of the classification system is called a brick attribute which is defined as a particular product detail. For example, you can specify whether milk contains animal milk (cow, goat, etc.) or non-animal milk (soy, rice, etc.).

Thus we figured out that the shape of the brick is a cuboid. Note: Bricks have various shapes. The most common is the cuboid shaped brick which we have taken. There may be variations in the dimensions of the brick according to the brick type, you have chosen.

The Easy Brickwork Calculation Formula

While working with first class bricks, it should be noted that for the walls with the thickness of 9” the cement sand ratio for brick masonry should be 1:6 and when it comes to a wall of 4.5” thickness the ratio can be made 1:4.

While working with first class bricks, it should be
